Our story

Neat Meat was founded in 2001 by three Kiwi brothers – Simon, William, and Tim Eriksen. The junior Eriksens grew up on the family farm in Waerenga-O-Kuri, 50km west of Gisborne – caring for the animals, catching eels in the creek and bringing their boundless energy 
to the rugby field.

Turns out, the siblings also shared an obsession with meat and getting it just right. Family BBQs were rife with one-upmanship and the occasional branding. It was inevitable that when they grew up they’d make a bloody good go of it – supplying top notch food to New Zealand’s top restaurants, hotels, event 
companies and more.

Chefs are a demanding bunch, and rightly so; every plate must keep its promise. So, it takes consistently high standards and above-and-beyond service to be the first choice in their busy kitchens. That’s why we’ve always dedicated ourselves to being the go-to for our knowledge, quality, and expertise in meat – for discerning chefs since 2001. And now, for obsessive foodies and entertainers too.

Neat Meat’s extended whanau includes our experienced, passionate team of 25+ butchers, who work their magic in our gleaming, state-of-the-art butchery purpose built to reflect best practice in hygiene and safety. Our size and relationships mean we can source exceptional quality meat at a fair price and share it with you.

Chefs and Farmers

We’re constantly working with chefs, farmers and supply partners to create new flavours, test recipes, research cuts and develop sustainable processes (like compostable packaging and using the whole animal). The care of animals is incredibly important to us. That’s why we select our partners with the utmost attention. Our range includes grass-fed, grain-fed, free-range, free-farmed and certified organic meats and poultry – independently certified and clearly labelled.
